Who is The Author in WordPress?
WordPress comes with a built-in user management system that allows you to create a single user website to multiple user websites managed by an administrator. Every user has its own predefined roles with own limitations.
The term author refers to a user role in WordPress having access to create, edit, publish and delete their own articles. A user with author role can also upload the files and images, edit their profile and change their login passwords. Authors can also edit the comments published on their posts.
Author Role Limitations:
- Authors do not have access to create, modify and delete pages.
- They cannot modify the articles posted by other users.
- They cannot modify the comments posted on other user’s articles.
Normally users with others roles have very limited access to the website and they cannot modify and publish their own content. Only administrator can access the full website data and can review and publish the other user’s articles. Since a user with author role has a capability of modifying and deleting their own published articles, website admin will assign the author role to beloved and trusted people only to eliminate the risks.
