The category is a predefined taxonomy in WordPress, which is used to sort and group the publishing content into sections.
Any published content or post on your website can be categorized into different sections and can be filed under one or more categories to navigate the content easily.
If no category is specified for the certain post, then it will automatically filed under default category. Normally after installation of a new WordPress, default category is “Uncategorized” and the administrator can change the default category from Uncategorized to any available categories from the list.
How to Add Categories:
There are 2 ways to create categories in WordPress. You can create a category directly from the post edit screen while you writing the post and another way to create a category from add new category option under posts.
Add Category From The Post Edit Screen:
Click on add new category option in the post edit screen under category Meta box. Write the category name in the box and click on add new category below the box. Now new category is created and you can file the post under a created category.
