Who is Contributor in WordPress?
WordPress comes with a built-in user management system that allows you to create a single user website to multiple user websites managed by an administrator. Every user has its own predefined roles with own limitations.
The term Contributor refers to a user role in WordPress, having access to create, edit and delete their own articles but they cannot publish the article. They cannot even edit and delete their own article after publishing.
Contributor has the ability to write the content and submit the post to the admin for review. The admin will check the article and publish the post if everything in order or reject the article.
A user with Contributor role cannot upload the files and images but they can see website stats.
Contributor Role Limitations:
- They cannot upload the files and images.
- A contributor cannot create new categories but can create tags.
- They cannot modify their own articles after publishing and even posted by other users.
- A contributor can see but cannot modify and approve the comments.
